Where does guidelines fit into the big picture

Guidelines are just one piece in a whole ecosystem of collecting ang dessiminating evidence. 

We have made a simplistic sketch of this ecosystem which shows some of the major dependencies.

Our aim is to facilitate the flow of data through this ecosystem, freeing information for datamining and getting closer to big data. This will require tagging of data throughout the whole value chain, from EMR data to guidelines and decision support. We need journals and knowledge repositories to start labeling the content and to put their data in searchable databases.
